About Us
Greetings-Welcome to our home, literally.
Let me start by saying, this is not a dealership. We are a family of outdoor enthusiasts who utilize Land Rovers to enjoy those pursuits. Over the course of time, the vehicles and lifestyle have melded into one.
I started driving offroad and traveling long distances by motorcycle as a teenager in the early 70's. Subsequently riding to or in all 50 states, Canada,New Foundland, Nova Scotia, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and most of Central Europe. Outdoor hobbies include scuba diving, skiing, rockclimbing-person and machine, hang gliding, hiking, white water rafting and canoeing. In essence, a lifetime of adventure travel before the phrase was coined.
Out of those pursuits, and a result of a longtime love affair with vehicles, a permanent relationship has developed with Land Rovers - at least the ones with beam axles. Constantly acquiring, altering, outfitting, and even building from scratch has become an almost full-time obsession. Originally educated and degreed as a Civil Engineer, then building high rise concrete framed and midrise steel framed structures as a career. Followed by a failed marriage, and a re-evaluation of our dearest commodity- TIME, I returned to school as an a-typical midlife student completing a degree as a Registered Nurse-subsequently meeting and marrying my wife Renee'. We worked weekends for years which facilitated traveling and diving numerous obscure Caribbean and Pacific islands, until starting our family in 2004. Now with our children, we enjoy the outdoors and the family atmosphere of the Rover community. I also serve on the board of The Old North State Land Rover Society, which brings us full circle to The RVR Barn.
The barn on our farm has evolved into shop space facilitating the enjoyment of Land Rovers and their idiosynchroncies. My particular interest lies in the "Special Vehicles" Land Rover has developed over the years. I continually buy and sell these vehicles, keeping some longer than others, and sometimes owning them more than once. As a result, there is always a stream of vehicles and parts being sought, and others being sold. It has become more than a hobby, but not a business - just my niche in the world of Land Rovers.
